Activities Ashore You'll generally overnight on board your boat out in the anchorage rather than tied to a dock because it's quieter, cooler and usually, bug-free. This doesn't prevent you from going ashore any time that you want to, as the yacht has a motorized dinghy and a crew that's always available. If you'd like to do an island tour they will help you arrange it and go with you if you'd like. You'll be visiting several different islands during your cruise. By all means enjoy them all! Shopping St Thomas is renowned as a Shopper's Paradise. If you want to get serious about shopping, plan to spend a day or two in town at the conclusion of your trip before you fly home. You'll find many great stores and boutiques selling everything from great jewelry at bargain prices to the latest fashions, perfumes cameras and electronics. You'll also find local wares, antique maps and much, much more. St Martin is another great shopping location. Tortola doesn't offer as many stores but there are some unique shops you won't find elsewhere including Pussers, Samarkand, Local Stuff, Fluke's, Caribbean Handprints and the boutiques at Frenchman's Cay in West End. Tours by taxi or Jeep Your captain will know a taxi driver on every island that is friendly and reliable and will be happy to arrange a quick trip or a longer tour for you upon request. The driver will delight in showing you "his" island and making sure that you get to visit the shops with the most interesting goods and the best prices. Alternatively if you'd like to get away by yourselves, rent a jeep for the day and go for it! Hiking After all the great food you'll be eating, consider taking a hike to work off some of the weight. There are many nice hiking trails in the islands that lead to great views, and in some areas, seemingly endless beaches all to yourselves. Golf There are good golf courses in the US Virgin Islands including Mahogany Run in St Thomas and the Carambola Golf Club in St Croix. At the present time there are two small pitch 'n putt courses in the BVI. Antigua, St Kitts and Nevis have some fine courses, and there's the possibility of stopping over in Puerto Rico on your way to the islands, where you'll find several more courses of championship caliber. Tennis Several hotels will permit non-residents access to their tennis courts. If you want to play tennis while on charter, let us know and your captain will be able to arrange it for you. Horseback Riding In Tortola, horseback riding is available from two locations, one up in the high hills, the other down by the beach. Horseback riding can also be arranged on many other islands, too. Mountain Biking Mountain bikes can be rented from several islands in the Caribbean and a few boats carry one or two on board. Meals Ashore You'll probably eat a lunch or two ashore when it's not convenient to return to the yacht and you may want to eat one dinner ashore to give the chef a night off and sample the local cuisine. Other than this, plan to eat on board as the food is wonderful and it's included as part of your charter. Your chef will prepare the menu based on your requests so you'll always enjoy your favorite foods. Evenings Ashore Throughout the course of your cruise you'll have many opportunities to go ashore for the evening. Your crew will know where the action is and can take you there. Perhaps a pig roast at Foxy's, dancing to the rhythm of a steel band in Cane Garden Bay, body shots at the William Thornton in the Bight at Norman Island, dinner and a rowdy show at the Last Resort, and elegant dinner at Peter Island or a Full Moon party at Bomba Shack in Tortola!
